I was Featured...

I get so excited about features.  I thought my knife block was being featured over at A Creative Princess.  When I pulled up the website however, I found that my whole website was featured.  Terri had pulled out some of my favorite projects and featured them on her blog.  Please go visit her over at a:

Dress everything up

Everyone knows about my initial addiction.  All you have to do is glance through my blog and find that Cs are everywhere in my house.  So when I saw a monogrammed knife block on Pinterest, I was hooked.  I started by removing the KitchenAid emblem from the front of the block.  I sanded the entire block and wiped it clean.  Next, the knife block received several coats of black spray paint.  To prevent spray paint from entering the knife slots, I placed post its in the slots.  After letting it dry, I sanded the edges.  Lastly I traced and painted a C on the front on the knife block.  Now I have another C in the house (I am closing in on 60 Cs).

Organize and Decorate Everything

Are you OCD organized?

Are you accused of being too organized.  My husband, mom, brother, etc. love to tease about my need for organization.  Well the organization craze has made its way to my fridge.  One day I sat down and typed every thing that I could cook without looking at a recipe card.  I printed out the document and added it to a painted Dollar Store picture frame.

I placed some magnets, from my supply trunk, on the back with hot glue.  I placed it on the fridge.

This makes grocery shopping a lot easier.  I give Kevin the menu planning pad and ask him to write a menu for the next 2 weeks.  I then make my grocery list based on his menu.  He gets involved, so no complaining about nightly dinners.

Have a sweet day!!

Tank Top Tote

I regularly check my CraftGawker app on my iPad2.  I found a project last week that I could complete with no additional supplies.  I started with an Old Navy tank top that I no longer wear.

I first took the tank top and turned it inside out and layed it so that the side seams were lined up in the middle of the top.  The straps then make 2 perfect handles.  I cut off a bottom portion of the top (save it for later).  Next I used a zig-zag stitch to close the bottom of the top.  I turned it right side out and had a tote bag.

I used the excess fabric to make 2 small flowers and some extra ribbon to add a little something to the tote.

The tote bag would be perfect for a day at the beach or lake or filled with activities for a road trip or an over night stay with friends.  Don't worry if it gets stained or dirty, just throw it into the wash.

Have a sweet day!!
